Natalie Fisher

When I first saw Australian artist Natalie Fisher's work, I was in awe! Her design and detail, her glorious colours and the sheer size of her stunning "Artweave Originals" is total inspiration!

Natalie is a graduate of Landscape Architecture and studied colour and design as part of her degree. Her needlepoint tapestry designs are influenced by her travels to both the Middle East and the Mediterranean regions, as seen in this beautiful piece above.

"An aunt gave me a needle and thread on my 13th birthday and I've hardly put it down since!"

Natalie draws her designs in black outline onto the canvas mapping out the major shaded areas first, and continues to make design decisions as she stitches using wools, combining and blending colours to achieve this realistic ‘photographic’ finish.

Above left is "Gerbera" and right "Eucalyptus" - both are 3 8'' square. In August 2003, Natalie exhibited some of her pieces at the Australian Gardening Expo, held in Sydney, where thousands of visitors were treated to the delight of seeing her unique work.
