The story of "Enchanted Gardens"

These six gardens are one of the few charted pieces that I have needlepointed.

Visitors to my home stop to stare at these Gardens which are hanging inside the front door. They point carefully to a path or a hedge or a cluster of flowers with a dreamy look and tell me how they love "this one". I look too and each time this happens, I'm transported directly into the gardens. That's almost magical. These gardens are only 4"x 5" and if one subtracts the borders, they get even smaller. There's a great love of gardens packed into such a small space!

I purchased the Enchanted Gardens at a Needlepoint show and sale. The kits were created in England and were kitted with 18mesh mono canvas and perle cotton thread. I spent many happy hours stitching these pieces while on vacation on the island of St. Kitt.

Most of my needlepoint hangs framed without glass for the closer viewing that I enjoy. These gardens however are framed together, each is surrounded with a gold fill-it, and then the entire group is matted with ultra suede. Finally glass was used to allow all of the separate parts to be stabilized.
